What is a Sewer Scope?

A sewer scope is a specialized camera system that plumbers use to inspect the condition of a sewer line, detecting cracks, blockages, and collapsed pipes.

This is done by entering an exterior, or interior cleanout.

Any house that has a sewer line should consider a sewer scope inspection to identify issues and prevent expensive repairs in the future.

Tree Roots

Tree roots in a sewer line can cause blockages and damage to the pipe. A sewer scope inspection can detect tree roots and other obstructions in the pipe, allowing plumbers to remove them and prevent further damage. Preventative measures, such as regular sewer line cleanings or installing root barriers, can also help prevent tree roots from infiltrating the sewer line.

Offsets

A sewer scope offset issue occurs when a section of the sewer line is misaligned, causing a gap or offset in the pipe. This can lead to blockages, leaks, and other problems in the sewer line. A sewer scope inspection can detect offset issues and help plumbers determine the best course of action for repairs.

Bellies in Drain Lines

Belly in a drain line refers to a sag or dip in the sewer line that creates a low spot where water and waste can collect. This can lead to blockages, backups, and other problems. A sewer scope inspection can identify bellies in the drain line and allow plumbers to determine the best course of action for repairs, such as regrading the sewer line or installing additional support to eliminate the sag.
